“Grateful Living”

sunset-oceanAs much as I enjoyed the musical aspects and the long drawn-out improvisational techniques of “The Grateful Dead”, I could never get over the name.  For one, I’m not keen on the idea of a “dead person” being able to have the ability to be ‘grateful’.  As a Christian I understand that after my life here is past I will enter into eternity where I will continue my state of being grateful.  Getting to the “Grateful Living” portion… It is here in the state of being grateful that the Christian draws close to God.  In the moments of pure gratitude for what God has done for us in which we have been “… raised up with Christ…” it is here that we express in many ways our gratitude.  We are in essence “Grateful(ly) Living” our lives for Christ and His cause.  Have you stopped today and given thanks to God for all things in your life?  Even your trials?  I’m thankful for my wife and two boys, my extended family, my church family, the ministry God has placed me in, the people who are on my team at SCCC, the Elders at SCCC who lead by example, the staff I work with each day (yes, even you Luke…:), and the hope of heaven!  There are so many other things but I’ll stop there for now.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
